Zeroemission Rome 2008 - PV Rome Mediterranean

The fair dedicated to renewable energy, environmental sustainability, the struggle against climate change, and emission trading garnered great success from both the public and exhibitioners alike. The numbers speak for themselves: more than 18,000 attendees visited upwards of 300 stands - 30% of which from Canada, China, South Korea, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Holland, Portugal, Poland, Spain, United States, Sweden, and Switzerland. The Sun - in the photovoltaic sense - and the wind were the event's main attractions, filling two whole pavilions at Nuova Fiera di Roma. Zeroemission Rome 2008 also included important seminars and debates. One particularly interesting international debate moderated by Chicco Testa underscored the importance of research investment (according to EU research Commissioner Liberali, Europe has seen its investment in technological research for energy unchanged at a steady 1%, while investing 4% for automobiles) and the European policy change aimed towards new forms of energy governance, in which member countries decide together on cofinancing their actions. Another key concept was alliance between technological development and civic education in a world where cooperation is increasingly a necessity in the current social and geopolitical situation.

Gamesa Solar was in attendance with a highly welcoming stand, piquing the curiosity of many industry professionals with its new 9REN trademark; our engineers were kept busy answering all the questions on Gamesa Solar and Ener3 execution capacities in the field of photovoltaic energy, and above all in taking advantage of the dozens of opportunities the public offered us. High-profile visitors like Chicco Testa, representative of the Italian energy debate and Gianni Silvestrini, Scientific Director of Kyoto club, showed that our attendance did not go unnoticed in the world of renewable energies. The stand's most-appreciated (and most crowded) moment was certainly the meeting with architects, at which Carlo Zuccaro offered about 30 professionals from the world of architecture an overview of the technologies available on the market for integrated photovoltaic and the new ways of thinking to approach this challenge: that the word "integration" will no longer be a mere slogan, but a constructive philosophy for the years to come. In particular, our design for the New Headquarter of "Regione Lombardia" in Milan has splendidly fulfilled its role as point of reference for the state of the art.

This is a world in constant evolution - a point driven home not only by success with the public, but also by the innovative quality of industrial and technological offerings, especially in the field of small-size applications, and wind in particular (the Energy Ball has 8 small blades arranged in a ball shape, providing 2.5 kW of power, while the Ropatec uses vertical axis technology for powers ranging from 1 to 20 kW).
